Walsingham Associates – June 2016

Friends:

It was wonderful seeing you and sharing in the Annual Pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham at Saint James’ Church.  We had a good turn-out of associates with some interest on the part of a few who attended in becoming associates.  Several arrived after travelling great distances from places like Pittsburgh, Indianapolis, Michigan and Sharon, PA.  How important it is that we keep one another in our daily prayers that Our Lady’s intercessions will avail much for both our growth in numbers and holiness of life.  Thank you for your whole hearted and disciplined participation in our Novena of Weeks in preparation for our pilgrimage.

Within the month of June the Rosary will be recited at Saint James on Saturday, June 25th, starting at 9:30 A M.  If you can join with us in this public recitation, do so.  Otherwise you might wish to offer a recitation of the Rosary on this day in union with the public recitation.  A Requiem will follow at 10:00 A M at which it will be our intention to offer Mass in behalf of departed associates.

The Epistle lesson during the first Sundays of Trinitytide have been taken from John’s First Epistle bearing witness to the apostle’s profound explanation of the meaning of love as revealed in the very life and nature of God.  I have come across the following two quotations in my readings recently which might serve for you as “food for meditation” as they have for me.

“WE NEED TO LEARN THAT THE TRUTH COMES THROUGH LOVE.”

“THE ROOT OF CHRISTIAN LOVE IS NOT THE WILL TO LOVE, BUT THE FAITH THAT ONE IS LOVED.”  (Thomas Merton)

Blessings!
